Ch. Shelley's Rickie Ricardo & Ch. Mystery Lady's Saving Grace

A match made LONG DISTANCE!

Rio                                Sydney

As Sydney finished her championship and her health testing was complete, I knew I wanted to breed her on the next heat cycle.  Prior to this, I had been searching for the perfect stud to complement Sydney's features, size, coloring, etc and produce the healthiest and most beautiful havanese puppies.

Sydney is adored everywhere we go.  She has the sweetest disposition and is very loving to everyone she meets. She has the most beautiful face and when I saw Rio, I knew instantly, this was meant to be.  He has the most adorable havanese face as well.  Not only that, Rio is perfect in every way!

When I first came across an offspring of Rio's you would have thought I was trying to search for a long lost relative.  After my clever use of this wonderful internet, I finally made a connection with Rio's owner, Debra Kahn.  We spent many emails exchanging stories of our beloved havanese and more, we knew that these two would make the best breeding combination!  Rio and Sydney fell in love - via the internet!

This page will include a few journal entries and pictures of Sydney's pregnancy:

Winter/Spring 08 - Searching for the most wonderful stud:

Wishing, hoping, waiting for my perfect soulmate!

June 9th - A few months later, the time was near for Rio to send his "male essence" here!

July 7th - Day 29 (from ovulation) - Ultrasound Day!

One of our ultrasound pictures!  Aren't they . . .  well cute little blobs!?!

July 10th - Day 32 - Haircut!  After having her belly shaved for her ultrasound, it was time to really trim Sydney's hair.  She's in a puppy cut now which will be easier to maintain during pregnancy, whelping, and mommyhood!

Okay, I feel much better now!

Now that I'm shaved, you can actually see that I am hiding some pups in here!

Week 4 -  Debra and Rio are always checking in on Sydney's progress.  Rio and Syd both sit by the phone while we, the moms, talk.  Rio deserves more pictures in this journal too so I thought I'd put in one of his puppy pictures Debra sent so we can all see how cute Rio was as a baby!!!

Rio in puppyhood.  What a handsome little fur-fellow!

Week 6 - Sydney is really getting a swelly belly!  She has limited her activities but still loves to play with her toys!  She has always been a snuggle-bug but even more so now.  She also loves to snuggle with her favorite toy - her Quack-Quack.

Week 7 - Things are going well!  We are setting up the whelping box yet, I don't think Beanie and Sydney are ready to have their crates separated!  They climbed in Sydney's together!

The pup pups are moving!  I felt the pups moving, walking across my hand.  So cool!  Sydney loves to have  her belly rubbed.
